Meet Mayita

I’m Mayita Sanchez—a lifelong learner, community advocate, and proud mother of six. I was raised by my grandparents in a small household that taught me the value of resilience, responsibility, and love. My path hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced setbacks, single motherhood, and a system that often made me feel invisible. But I’ve also found my strength through education, public service, and the people I’ve had the privilege to serve.

Now, I'm running for Carson City Board of Supervisors—Ward 3—not because I have all the answers, but because I believe in asking better questions. I believe we can lead with heart, policy, and purpose.

Why I am Running

This campaign is about building bridges—between generations, between public and private, between neighbors and opportunity. I want to make government work better for all of us—not just those who already know how to navigate it.

I’m running to be a voice for the unheard.
To be an example that our lived experiences are assets.
and A connector who believes in collaboration over division.

I want my community—especially those who’ve felt left out—to know they belong at the table. Because when we show up together, we create change that lasts.

  • This is a nonpartisan race, and I’m focused on people over politics. My decisions will be guided by what strengthens our community—not party lines.

  • There are so many ways—from walking neighborhoods, to sharing my message, to simply having a conversation with a neighbor.

  • I’ve spent my life in service—managing public health programs, supporting nonprofits, advising on federal grants, and raising a family. I bring real-world experience, heart, and a deep understanding of how systems work—and how they need to change.

  • Absolutely. This campaign isn’t just about my voice—it’s about our stories. You can always reach out to me directly, and I plan to host regular community events and open office hours.
